ABOUT US

What can we grow in Utah?

The why and the how

Life can change before you know it. Emergencies happen. That is where we come in. We spent our childhood years working to grow our own food, so we know the why and the how. We understand the importance of always having all the highest quality necessities on hand for ourselves and for those we care about most.

It’s not common for the average person in our country to run into people with experience in a wide range of agriculture. At Silverbrook Farms, we grew up on a small 150 cow dairy. Not only did we feed the calves, milk the cows, and care for their nutrition and health, but we took care of the milk and made the cheese. We sold it in our busy little dairy store. In fact, we guaranteed the freshest milk on the market. But that’s not all. We planted and harvested the forage, and the grain, with never less than a couple of hundred acres needed to provide this feed. That which we could not grow was trucked in with our own big rig.

Along with fresh dairy products, we also grew fresh vegetables and offered them at our market. Potatoes, carrots, beets, tomatoes, onions, cabbage, peppers, sweet corn, green beans, summer squash, were a few on the menu. Some years we’d try new things like dry beans and fresh herbs.

Fresh fruit was not an exception.  Apricots and cherries were first in the season, then came plums, peaches, pears, and apples.

How did we do all this? Well, it’s called teamwork. Not all can know everything. But everyone can help when there’s work to be done. The elderly helped in preserving the harvest. Seems they are the best. Where there was extra, it was stored in our cellar. We always had an abundance through the winter months.

Another thing we prize is our own self-raised, choice beef. We know what goes into a good cow: a lot of care, good feed, and plenty of good feelings. Our freezers always had a good cut of beef, roasts, and a perfect burger.

The quality of our upbringing and the responsibility we learned goes on.  From that day to this, a few things have changed. But most things never will. We know good produce when we see it. What we don’t grow ourselves, we’ve partnered with local trusted farmers to provide. We strive to bring you the highest quality of agriculture products for the best value. We guarantee the goodness in its fresh, wholesome state.

We hope you enjoy the harvest as much as we do.
